Many thought the Bourne franchise was finished, until the 2016 Jason Bourne movie came out and reinvigorated the series. And now it looks like the Bourne series will be moving to a smaller screen.
USA Network recently announced a ton of new shows they’re developing over the next year. Perhaps the most notable show in production is called Treadstone. The show will focus on the origin and present-day activities of a CIA black ops program called “Treadstone,” which is also the program that helped change Jason Bourne in the badass assassin we’ve seen in the franchise. According to the network, The series follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously ‘awakened’ to resume their deadly missions.”
So it’s basically the Bourne movies on TV. What’s not to love?
There’s no word on whether Bourne will actually be a character in the series.
USA also announced a show called Briarpatch, a show about a investigator in a Texas border-town looking into the murder of her sister by a car bomb, Dare Me, a show about the cutthroat world of high school cheerleading, and Erase, about a detective with a photographic memory who begins to experience symptoms of Alzheimer’s.
So it sounds like USA could be the next network for great television.
But let’s hope they still run the Law and Order marathons.
