Last month we told you about actor Russell Crowe auctioning off tons of items from his iconic career. Well the auction recently took place and, unsurprisingly, the biggest draws were props from his movie Gladiator.
Crowe’s auction took place on Saturday night, and fans couldn’t get enough of his Gladiator merchandise. The breastplate he wore at the end of the movie fetched $96,000, while a chariot from the movie took in $50,000. Two swords from the movie combined for around $70,000, and a pair of leather wrist cuffs worn by Crowe in the movie went for $24,500.
Of course, Gladiator wasn’t the only movie represented at the auction. Items from Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World also went for high prices, including a violin from the movie which auctioned off for $104,000 and his costume for the movie sold for $88,000.
All together, Crowe raised around $2.8 million through the auction from the sale of 226 items.
No word on if Crowe ever asked the auction audience if they were entertained.
