Dexter is one of the most popular shows Showtime ever made, and fans have wondered if the show could ever come back for a followup season. Well the show’s star says that may be a possibility.
Michael C. Hall, who played the criminal-killing serial killer Dexter Morgan on Dexter, was asked whether the show would ever come back. Here’s how Hall responded:
“When Dexter ended, I wanted to mix it up and felt like the cumulative effect of the things I have done since has served as a sort of ‘Dexorcism.’ [But] it’s a possibility given how the show ended that we could revisit Dexter,” Hall said. “I have just yet to, for my part, imagine or hear someone else’s idea that makes it feel worth doing. But never say never.”
So unfortunately it sounds like it’s not really in the cards yet for a Dexter return, but if the right idea comes along, Hall seems open to it.
Of course, many found the ending to Dexter unsatisfactory with Dexter’s sister dying and the show’s decision to fake the main character’s death, as well as the general decline of the show’s quality in the last few seasons. But perhaps a follow-up season would be able to right some of the final season’s wrongs!
