Between the upcoming Episode IX, the various standalone prequel movies and the new trilogies, there’s so many projects in the Star Wars universe for fans to be excited about. But it looks like you can add another one to the list.
Lucasfilm announced a new live-action Star Wars TV series that will be executive produced and written by Jon Favreau. Favreau is perhaps best known for directing Iron Man as well as the recent live-action Jungle Book movie and upcoming Lion King movie.
“If you told me at 11 years old that I would be getting to tell stories in the Star Wars universe, I wouldn’t have believed you. I can’t wait to embark upon this exciting adventure,” Favreau said.
No details were given about the show, including when it will be released. But it may be a bit far off considering Favreau’s currently working on his Lion King movie which isn’t expected to come out until 2019.
The only thing we do know is that the show will air on Disney’s new streaming service that they’ve been working on recently.
We’re hoping this is the Jabba the Hutt origin story we’ve all been waiting for.
