For years, fans of The Office have wondered what Pam Beesly said to Michael Scott in their goodbye at the airport. Well, now we have an answer, but it’s not the one we may be expecting.
Jenna Fischer, who played Beesly on all nine seasons of the hit NBC sitcom, went on Instagram Live to answer some questions fans have about her famed role. One person asked about what Pam said to Michael during their emotional goodbye in season seven.
Here’s the scene if you somehow forgot it (make sure to have tissues handy):
Fans wondered what Pam said to Michael in their goodbye, but it turns out it had nothing to do with the characters.
“That was me talking to Steve. I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when he left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye,” Fischer said on Instagram. “That was a really emotional scene.”
That explanation will probably make the scene more emotional for fans as well.
Of course, it wasn’t the actual goodbye between the characters as Scott returned in the series finale at Dwight Schrute’s wedding.
Fischer didn’t just talk about the sad moments on The Office. She also discussed her favorite episodes from the series, including Branch Wars, Health Care and The Delivery, but ultimately chose Dinner Party as her all-time favorite.
So here’s another excuse to re-watch The Office for the 404th time.
