The final season of HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones is in production, and while we won’t see any new episodes until 2019, we do know a little bit about what could happen.
While speaking at a panel in Israel about HBO, the network’s senior vice president of drama Francesca Orsi dropped some details about Game of Thrones’ final season, without giving away any spoilers. Here’s what she said about the final scripts for the show:
“It was a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers,” she said. “None of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started falling down to their deaths.”
Now it’s not clear if Orsi is meaning characters in the script were literally falling to their deaths, or if she’s being figurative about people’s reactions to the events written down. She said that after the cast read the final scripts for the show, everyone clapped for 15 minutes with tears in their eyes.
Orsi also discussed the upcoming Game of Thrones spin-offs that HBO is working on. She said the network isn’t sure what the right budget amount should be for the new shows. She said, “We can’t obviously start with the budget of season 8 but would it be a Game of Thrones season three budget?”
Hey, season three of Game of Thrones was pretty darn good, so we’ll take it.
