Ever since season seven of Game of Thrones ended, fans were warned that the eighth and final season of the show would probably not air until 2019. And now HBO is officially confirming that is the case.
HBO confirmed today that Game of Thrones would not return until 2019. And while that may disappoint fans, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Delaying the final season for a year ensures that the final season isn’t rushed and that the makers of the show will produce the best possible ending that fans could imagine.
There’s also the whole “winter” thing as well. At the end of last season, we saw Winter finally arrive in southern regions of Westeros. That means in order to film the final season of Game of Thrones, the crew will need the locations they shoot at to actually have snow.
So while you may have to wait a little longer for the final season of Game of Thrones, at least take heart in knowing that it will probably be the most epic season of television ever.
And in the meantime, Westworld comes back this year so you won’t be entirely missing out on epic TV!
