The final season of Game of Thrones is about a year away, and fans are excitedly waiting to see how the show ends. But apparently there’s one character from past seasons’ whose fate will not be resolved in the final episodes.
Edmure Tully is Catelyn Stark’s brother and Robb Stark’s uncle. Back in season three, Edmure was imprisoned after the events of the Red Wedding, and didn’t come back onto the show until season six when Jaime Lannister used him to take over his family’s castle at Riverrun. Many have wondered if Edmure would somehow play a role in the show’s endgame.
Well, he won’t.
Tobias Menzies, the actor who plays Edmure Tully, said in an interview he has no idea what the show is going to do with his character in the final season. He says he’s been given no information, and he’s not been contacted about appearing on the show’s final season. So considering that the show’s final season is currently filming and the actors have read the scripts for the last episodes, it’s a fair guess that Tully will not make another appearance on the show.
Tully is actually the second character with a prominent role on the show who will not appear in season eight. Meera Reed, who helped Bran Stark reach the Three-Eyed Raven and then return to Winterfell, will also not appear in the final episodes.
So hopefully you didn’t place a bet on Tully being the Prince Who Was Promised, because you’re about to lose that money.
