An Important ‘Game of Thrones’ Character is Coming Back in the Final Season

Game of Thrones is currently filming its final season, and you know there are going to be rumors and leaks coming out. But this latest news isn’t much of a leak as much as a confirmation about an important character returning for the show.

At the end of the seventh season of the show, Bran Stark sees a vision where his aunt, Lyanna, marries Rhaegar Targaryen, then the Prince of Westeros. We already knew that Jon Snow was Rhaegar and Lyanna’s child, but this marriage showed that Jon Snow is actually the heir to the Iron Throne, not Daenerys Targaryen.

But apparently that is not the last we will see of Rhaegar. The actor who played Rhaegar in the flashback, Wilf Scolding, was spotted in Belfast, one of the locations where the final season of Game of Thrones is being filmed. So either that’s a massive coincidence, Scolding loves being with the cast and crew of the show or Rhaegar’s returning in the final season of the show.

Of course, Rhaegar is a major presence in both the show and the books. He’s known as the popular, warrior-poet who would’ve turned the Seven Kingdoms around if not for his father, the Mad King Aerys Targaryen. Rhaegar was slain by Robert Baratheon in his civil war to take the Iron Throne.

Assuming Rhaegar is still dead, then it’s likely he will return in flashback scenes in the final season. Perhaps these scenes will be seen by Bran again, or maybe Bran will show them to his former bastard brother.

The real question is how Jon will react when he finds out he’s a Targaryen. But knowing his character, he probably will just give up the throne anyways and go up North to kill White Walkers.
