First Footage From New ‘Halloween’ Explains How the Movie is Ignoring the Sequels

A new Halloween movie is coming out this year that will supposedly ignore most of the franchise’s sequels. And now we know how they will do so.

At CinemaCon, a giant conference for movie theater owners, the makers of the new Halloween movie released the first footage from the upcoming sequel. In the footage, we find out how the movie relates to the rest of the movies in the series.

First of all, the new movie will only be a sequel to the original Halloween. All the other sequels are no longer canon, including the second movie that established that Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis’ character from the series) is the sister of crazed killer Michael Myers.

In this sequel, Myers is recommitted to a psychiatric hospital after the events of the first film. Laurie’s spent years making sure he stays there, until he (obviously) escapes.

If you’re interested in more details, here’s what one person who saw the footage said about it.

So apparently Laurie and Michael are no longer siblings. And it appears the events of the other movies will be considered “rumors” that have floated since the original events.

Well, now we’re definitely pumped to see this.
