When rock stars travel, they go on giant private jets filled with groupies and bottles of champagne. And now you’ll be able to relive the glory years of one of rock’s biggest stars ever.
A private jet belonging to Elvis Presley is going up for auction. The jet is a 1962 Lockheed Jetstar that supposedly hasn’t been altered since the King used it. The plane comes with red velvet seats, gold-toned woodwork and red plush carpet. You’ll also receive official FAA documents proving that the jet did belong to Elvis himself.
Elvis owned three private jets during his lifetime, all of which were kept at his Graceland Mansion in Tennessee after his death. However the estate sold this jet last May to a private owner for $430,000.
However, don’t expect that you’ll be able to simply purchase this plane and immediately take to the skies. The jet does need renovation as the furniture and paint are falling apart after years of being untouched. It’s also missing an engine and cockpit components to actually make the plane fly.
Experts do believe if someone were to purchase the plane and refurbish it, they could re-sell it for millions of dollars. So perhaps it could be a good investment opportunity for people who are into renovating private planes, which we’re sure there are tons of out there.
