In an era of reboots and sequels, it seems nearly every popular franchise is being brought back to life by movie studios. And it looks like one of the great action-comedies of all time is part of the club.
Chris Tucker appeared on the ESPN podcast The Plug and was asked if he would ever make another Rush Hour movie. The Rush Hour movies focused on a LAPD cop (played by Tucker) who’s forced to team up with a member of the Hong Kong police, played by Jackie Chan. The third movie came out back in 2007, but there’s been no word on a sequel.
In the interview Tucker said not only would he be open to do a sequel, he said it’s actually happening.
“It’s happening. This is gonna be the rush of all rushes,” he said. “Jackie is ready and we want to do this so that people don’t ever forget it.”
Last year Chan said that a fourth Rush Hour movie was in the works, but that Tucker was on the fence. Supposedly the pair had turned down scripts to come back for seven years before finally agreeing on this new one.
Do you think there will be a, “Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth,” joke? Yes, yes there will be.
