For years, rumors swirled about a potential sequel for the Bill & Ted franchise, and it appears they have finally come to fruition.
It’s now confirmed that Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will return to play the iconic slackers in Bill & Ted Face the Music. The new movie was written by the creators of the franchise, and will start years after the events of the first two movies. Bill and Ted will now be middle-aged family men who haven’t yet written the song that will supposedly save the universe. A visitor from the future tells them they need to write the song, which begins another time-travel adventure for the duo and their families.
In a combined statement, Reeves and Winter said, “We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again. Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm, we’ve got a dream team.”
However, don’t expect to see the new Bill & Ted in the immediate future. Reeves is currently filming John Wick 3, so the new movie will have to start production once he’s done with that.
There’s only one word to describe this news: Excellent.
