David Letterman’s long awaited return to television is only one week away, and you knew he would get a great guest for his new show. And he decided to choose only the most important person of the last eight years.
Netflix announced that the first guest on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman will be none other than former President Barack Obama. They also revealed that the 60-minute show will debut next Friday, January 12th. It is President Obama’s first talk show appearance since leaving office last year, and it will be Letterman’s first return to regular television since leaving CBS in 2015.
My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is a six-episode series in which Letterman interviews someone he finds fascinating in a one-hour episode that is filmed both inside and outside of a studio. Each new episode will air one month after the previous one airs. The other guests who will follow President Obama are George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey and Howard Stern.
Letterman had previously said he wanted Kim Jong-Un, the leader of North Korea, and President Donald Trump to be the first guests on his new show. But apparently he decided he’d rather not inadvertently start an international incident.
