Anchorman is one of the most beloved comedies of the 21st century, and while the sequel isn’t quite as popular, it’s still a pretty funny movie. But according to the Anchorman director, the third movie could be truly epic.
In an interview, Anchorman 1 and 2 writer/director Adam McKay revealed some details about what would happen in a hypothetical third movie in the series. McKay said that it would involve Ron Burgundy and his news team being embedded in a war zone. Here’s his full quote:
“I don’t know if you remember the first and even the second Iraq war. Maybe it was mainly the second Iraq war. They embedded journalists and gave us kind of a whole story idea…I don’t want to say too much, but I’ll tell you that embedded journalist, Ron Burgundy, Veronica Corningstone, the news team. That definitely gave us a big idea.”
However, McKay didn’t say that the idea was definite or even say that Anchorman 3 is going to happen. Some believed the sequel disappointed at the box office, and that may prevent the third movie being green lit.
But maybe once people start hearing the full pitch for this movie, they’ll jump onboard. Because, honestly, who doesn’t want to see this happen?
